Be a Tidy Kiwi is fortunate to have three incredible wāhine on its board of trustees, Sharon Davies, Penny Hulse and Lyn Mayes. In celebration of International Women's Day, we want to acknowledge their support and dedication to keeping Aotearoa clean and green.
Sharon works as a Community Activator in Swanson, West Auckland. She dedicates a lot of her spare time volunteering for various community organisations including Be A Tidy Kiwi. Sharon was awarded a Queen's Services medal for services to her community in June 2013 and went on to write her life story, which launched in August 2018. She became a Justice of the Peace in December 2019 and spends many hours each month covering various JP service desks in West Auckland.
Since leaving Auckland Council in 2019, Penny has taken up a variety of governance and community- focused roles including being a board member of Be A Tidy Kiwi and Kainga Ora. Her passion for waste management and environmental advocacy has been a major focus of her work, and she is a keen volunteer in her community of West Auckland.
Establishing Mad World in 2001, Lyn has been helping to improve New Zealand’s environmental performance for over 25 years. Her commitment to sustainable business practices was inspired by her work at BOC, and when she’s not busy advocating for sustainable practices, Lyn also contributes her expertise in her role as vice president of Weightlifting NZ.
Thank you, Sharon, Penny and Lyn for your commitment to Be a Tidy Kiwi and ongoing efforts to protect and preserve Aotearoa’s environment for future generations.
